About
Professional web development, built for small businesses
Desert Signal Digital is an independent studio in Las Vegas, Nevada, working with small businesses across the United States.
Our purpose
Why this studio exists
Desert Signal Digital exists to make professional web development and practical digital tools accessible to small businesses.
A company's website should reflect the quality of its work, communicate its services clearly, and make the next step obvious for anyone considering getting in touch. For a business competing on reputation and referrals, that is not a cosmetic concern. It is often the first impression a customer forms.
The studio was founded by Shane Whisenant, who scopes, designs and builds the work directly. Projects are deliberately well defined: thoughtfully scoped, professionally delivered, and built to stay useful for years rather than to be replaced at the next redesign.
That focus is also why the studio is selective. Work is accepted where it can be delivered to a standard worth recommending, and where it cannot, we say so before any money changes hands.
Who we work with
Independent businesses that compete on reputation
Much of our work is with service businesses (contractors, cleaning companies, landscapers, pool services and similar independents), where a prospective customer forms an impression in seconds and either makes contact or moves on.
That is where we started, but it is not a boundary. Professional practices, studios, consultancies and small product companies need the same things: a site that explains the offer clearly, works properly on a phone, and makes getting in touch straightforward. If your business falls outside the examples above, the work is much the same.
Our approach
How projects are built
Four principles that shape every engagement, from a single page of copy to a complete site.
-
Scope before code
Every project starts with a written document covering what will be built, what it costs, and what we need from you. Agreeing that first is what keeps a project predictable.
-
Designed around one action
Each page is built to lead somewhere, usually a call or an inquiry. Design decisions follow from that, rather than from decoration.
-
Built to be maintained
Sites are written in clear, current code and deployed on hosting that stays inexpensive, so the business can keep the site for years rather than rebuilding every two.
-
Handed over properly
You finish a project understanding your own website: how to update it, where it lives, and who to contact. The documentation is written in plain language.

Working together
What the process feels like from your side
A preview link from day one
You watch the site take shape rather than waiting for a reveal, and you can share the link with anyone whose opinion you want.
Feedback in rounds
Two review rounds are built into every project. Collecting your notes in one pass keeps the work moving and the schedule intact.
One point of contact
The person designing and building your site is the person you email. Questions get answered by someone who knows the project.
Let's talk about your project
Send a few sentences about your business and what you need. You will get a considered reply and a clear view of what the work involves.
