Terms of use

These terms cover the use of this website. The terms of an actual project are set out in the written proposal you approve before any work begins. That document, not this page, governs the work.

What this website is not

Nothing on this website is a binding offer, a quote, or a contract. Descriptions of services, timelines and the deposit terms on the services page describe how Desert Signal Digital normally works, and may change. The price and scope for your project become binding only when both of us agree to a written proposal.

Nothing here is legal, financial, tax or accounting advice.

Project terms live in the proposal

Each project is governed by its own written proposal, which states the scope, the fixed price, the payment schedule, the number of revision rounds included, the timeline, and what is required from you. Where this page and an approved proposal disagree, the proposal wins.

Points that appear in every proposal

  • Deposits. Work begins once a deposit is paid. The deposit reserves the time, and is non-refundable once work has started.
  • Ownership. On final payment, you own the design, content and code produced for your project outright. Third-party components keep their own licences, and reusable tooling that predates your project remains the studio's.
  • Your content. You confirm you have the right to use the text, images and logos you supply. You remain responsible for the accuracy of claims made about your own business.
  • Third-party costs. Domain registration, hosting, email and any paid service your project needs are billed to you by those providers directly and are not included in the project price.
  • Revisions. The included revision rounds are stated in the proposal. Work beyond the agreed scope is quoted separately and approved by you before it starts.
  • Portfolio use. We will ask your permission before showing your project publicly, and will not name you without it.
